What is your collector car Pet Peeve? |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? The words; rare, barn find, all original, restored, are a few that jump out for me.

Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Seeing a SBC in almost every car. It gets boring!

Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Sidewalk judges or know-it-alls.

Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? People that spend oodles making a vintage car look pretty, but don't sort-out the mechanicals, so they have a gorgeous trailer queen that can't make it from the trailer to the field and back or around the block reliably.

Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? #1 peeve. Easy. Stupid people ! Its amazing the number that want to tell you all about your vehicle and then stick their little brats in them so they can drop the ice cream cone or spill the pop on the seats only to quickly grab the kid and run away before you see what just happened.
Or, the snobs that only want to see a hot-rod or a perfectly restored show winner. A little off subject. At our annual 4th of July fly-in breakfast there are always planes on display. One year this clown was setting his kid on the wing of a Cherokee and having him run down the length of the wing and jump off the end. This was great fun until I stopped this idiot and showed him the damage to the wing and tip he had caused. He couldn't see any harm in what he was doing at all and was argumentative. Its hard to be polite to some of these people. |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? I've got to agree with Jeff and Patrick L. in post six and eight. Along the lines that Pat speaks of, I once had a little bastard steal the keys out of my speedster and I never got them back. Next to that, I hate internet bullies that are too much of a coward to talk their trash to me in person.

Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Can't drive over 35 mph. Never mind the excuse, but 35 on the highway makes you a public nucense. Rod

Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Number 1: two words - old school.
Number 2: children or grandchildren of deceased relatives who take a nice old car and turn it into a "crap"-rod. Bob-A:D |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Yes with all the above ! big block, small block, restomod ect. it gets boring. they all look the same after awhile. sort of like modern junk.

Or "Ole Skewl" I also wonder if some folks might be chapped by non-standard wheels on A's, particularly 16's from the V8 era? |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Reproduction parts that are "Hecho en China"...

Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? "Ran when parked"
Nitpickers Chinese repro parts that don't fit Metric bolts in Model A parts assembly packages |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? How fast will it go?
I just shrug and say it ain't about speed. |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? The rod that's maybe 10% 1929 Model A Coupe that's registered and displayed as a 1929 Model A Coupe. Some of the workmanship on a nice rod can be pretty impressive, but don't call it something it isn't.
|
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Those who try to make a Model A built with the technology of the late 1800 to ride like a car built in the 21st century.
That and rude people who think they know it. |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Folks who create a rod - modern motor, brakes, suspension, tranny, steering, suspension and frame WHO then try to tell folks their car is older than mine 'cause there's was based on a 28 and mine's a 31.
At that point I usually open the engine cowl and the argument ends.;) |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? 1) "It's a MODEL T!"
2) "How fast does it go?" (favorite reply- I once had it up to 80 but I was pulling it on a trailer at the time). |
Re: What is your collector car Pet Peeve? Where did you get it???? Want to sell it??? I'll give you two thousand dollars cash for it!!!
