Unfortunately, the stainless '36 Fords had carbon steel floors that went away just like the floors in all the other '36 Fords.

The Early Ford V-8 Foundation has one of the 36's on display at it's Auburn , Indiana museum.

With the economy in shambles due to the pandemic, they probably won't bring as much as they would have earlier, say January.

Folks dealing in that caliber of car and the extreme monetary values associated with such don't fall under the same rules as mere mortals that have to watch their budgets out of necessity for any possible shortcomings of funds if they suddenly find themselves without a weekly paycheck. DD

It's so nice to see these three cars coming out of hiding.

You can see a similar triplet at the Crawford Museum in Cleveland. I went there in 2018 and was happy to see them, but their '36 has issues (spider caps passenger/stock caps driver, light switch in on position). It's interior is just like I like them though, pretty well used. (Shout-out for JM35's shorts in the reflection.)

The one at the Foundation Museum is problematic to me. If you accept the explanation the polishing was necessary for the body to be restored. My dad told me stories of judging the polished car in 2008 and he commented about pressure on the team to get on board of this restoration.

Nevertheless, does the Museum's car tick the box for uber cool? Yes.

We got to see one (maybe a third?, really my first from 2011) with original finish in Saratoga Springs for the meet Frank Miller's crew put on. It was in the gorgeous Saratoga Springs Automobile Museum. Epic venue, epic tours, top notch event! That one plus the one from Cleveland are the only two brushed ones I've encountered.

Anyone with the slightest exposure to working with stainless steel knows that argument to be pure B.S. and self serving. A satin finish post repair is as easy to achieve, if not easier, than a highly polished finish. How about an honest "I wanted it that way"?

I also want to point out that Mr. Floyd, who donated the polished car, has given us a fabulous toy store in the form of a whole museum wing full of pretty much every flavor of '36 Ford you can round up.

I saw the SS '36 at the Early V-8 museum last year, it was neat!

If I recall it weighed like 500 pounds more than a regular '36 Ford just because of the stainless steel:eek:

Back when the DeLorean came out, there was a dealership in Houston. They had two that were painted. The story was that there was a shop in Houston that would paint them for around $2000. I remember the one painted bright red, but I do not remember what color the other one was painted.
