Serial NUmber Question

I have inherited a 30 Truck from my Dad. It was restored once but has been sitting in a carport for the last 5 years. It is still in pretty good shape but does need a lot of cosmetic work and I am working to get it running. Now that being said, my dad bought it from a Canadian and the engine Serial number kind of confirms that CAAR752. But where my question comes in is there are no Stars on either side of the serial number. There is a nameplate on the carb side from Standard Electric & Auto Parts that seems to indicate it was rebuilt at one time.

I have read that some engines were not finished fully finished as a engines for Service replacements back in the day. The numbers would be stamped on when the engine was completed. Just looking for guidance that this might be the case with this engine and when it was replaced they stamped the original number on the block but without the stars.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just went out and looked at my Canadian Engine and it has a star at both ends of the number. You may be correct about stamping the original number on the rebuild.

Re: Serial NUmber Question

Without the stars it is most likely been restamped. That number is for a AA truck.
The original CAAR752 was probably stamped March 1930.

Thanks all. I have been to Vince's site and that is what I was basing my suspicions on.
