51 Crestliner

I have 4 mysterious holes that are peeking through the body filler that was hiding them on the trunk lid. These holes are evenly spaced around the trunk lock extension and housing and appear to go down to the chrome at the bottom of the trunk lid. Any guesses?????

Is this a good picture for reference? How big are the holes?
Maybe for transmission designation - Overdrive or Automatic
or Dealership designation?

As you can see in the pictures attached just below each piece of masking tape you find a hole filled with filler. I found 6 not 4 and evenly spaced.

Sorry for the glare but the car is inside the shop.

Re: 51 Crestliner

It might have had a fake continental kit, or Coronado Kit, on it

Definitely looks like someone was trying to add the Coronado Kit to this car. They were available on the 52-54 Fords.

Before I saw the picture showing the holes on your trunk lid, I thought that you might have been referring to this Fordomatic Badge that I saw on a 1951 Ford Crestliner.

Re: 51 Crestliner

Thanks so much. As I am not going to hunt for this thing to install I guess its to the local trustworthy body shop to fix it properly and do some paint magic. Thanks again.

Re: 51 Crestliner

Another vote for a Coronado kit. I think there were some aftermarket kits sold by some of the parts houses.

Those holes should have been filled with lead, not bondo. Of course they probably got 60 years out of the bondo so it did it's job.

Re: 51 Crestliner

Hey Petehoovie that looks like the culprit right there. Even the same color car. My guess is a guy would never find one of those kits so I think I'll just get it fixed and painted. Thanks for all the help Guys.
