Front Flexible Brake lines 20" Long ????

2 Attachment(s)
Hey, so i ran the rear brake lines to meet at the radius rod and it will go up its length. Looks good! Now, The front it seems im going to need a rubber line about 20" long to go from the front wheel cylinder to some kind of little bracket i will make that will go under the frame rails. Dont want to drill a hole through the frame rail. Not sure what this should be. I am using 1/4" hard lines and flaring them myself so i have complete control on their lengths.

Has someone done this same thing and maybe they have a part number of one? Or can guide me to a source? Thanks!

You got that right, my local NAPA has one guy that is flathead savvy, and he goes out of his way to help, when he's not there it's a crapshoot.

A good Napa store, like I have, will take the time to look up a special application part. I'm grateful every time I go there that I have parts people willing to go the extra mile. The parts books at Napa have diagrams along with specifications (length, fitting size, etc.). All they have to do is go to the right book with brake hoses(such as a Wagner brand book) and do a little research.
Check e-Bay seller "goodbrakes". They are also known as Brake Hoses unlimited. Let them know what you need and you will probably find it.

There's a stock Ford brake pipe, for the trucks that is longer than the standard 40 type, that's what most people (myself included) use for hydraulics on a 32.

Have a look.

Mart.

Edit:
macs have 2 part numbers listed.
https://www.macsautoparts.com/early_...ial-truck.html
and
https://www.macsautoparts.com/store/...Product_Viewed

They are 18-1/4" long, that's what I used.
don't know if they are the same or different. It's the rear hose for the 42-47 trucks.

Rockauto also have 'em.

Mart.

After reading some other forums have a part number that should be what i want. (Raybestos or Wagner # BH25629) I called NAPA with the number and they are going to get me two. $21.95 each. I was expecting it to be more. Ill follow up either way if this is indeed what i need. Maybe someone can use the info too...!

NAPA part # 36502 should work for you. It's 20.875 overall with the 7/16" - 20 on the wheel cylinder end and 7/16" -24 (1/4" female inverted flare) on the frame end. the next shorter is # 36564 at 18.688" long and both use a # 80742 hose lock clip. Part #25664 is 20" long #4000 is 19.25" long but both use a 5/8"-18 nut to attach to the frame bracket.
The 25629 is 21.1" long if this all helps

Hi Nick,

I agree with others here about finding a good NAPA or OReilley's store. I ran into this five years ago and don't remember how I found the hose. I know it was with lots of searching and may have been from my local and good NAPA store.

I found that hose just under 18" long worked for me. I hear you on drilling holes in the stock frame but I did so for brackets I made as you can see attached.

These are the specs on my hose:

Product Details
Part Number: 88215
Brake Hose Length (in): 17.625
Fitting Size (1): Male - 7/16-20
Fitting Size (2): Female - 7/16-24

Also for reference https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Brake...ds,104755.html

I searched online and couldn't find anything helpful of hose specs to part number cross reference.

Glenn

Just saw all the other posts while I was drafting mine. Great info on the NAPA numbers which I've saved for the future.

Thanks

The days of the old time counterman that knew parts is over. When guy's like us, that are building hot rods and custom cars need something we have to do all the work ourselves. Any tome I go to our local auto part store and give them dates like 1932 and 1946 the first thing the kid says is we don't have it.

and if it doesn't fit you have to deal with that. I rather keep my locally owned business open and buy local when possible.

Yep, need to have a make and year, and then they start the engine size, transmission and so on. :)

Re: Front Flexible Brake lines 20" Long ????

I use napaonline and spend a little time searching for brake hoses and use their part numbers to figure out what number is the length. Keep looking until I find one that works. NAPAonline has helped me find a lot of parts. I have a NAPA warehouse near me that has a store with it. Very convenient. No, I don't work for them.

Napa had some #36502 so i bought 2 of them. When i screw this into the wheel cylinder it goes in all the way until the metal hits the casting of the wheel cylinder. Do i need to just add a crush washer to this?

You need two copper washers. Ford part # 91A-2149 most every ford parts dealer will have them. Or you could likely match one up locally
