1935 Front Fenders
 

New to the ford barn and need some help identifying additional holes in fenders i was supplied for a restoration. I have never seen anything on 35 front fenders located in this position,( normally just the headlight and horn mounting holes) i know that some aftermarket marker lights might have been installed but the additional holes appear to have been punched in the fenders and not drilled and are extremely accurate in rt and left fenders.there is no sign of sheet metal screws installed in the holes. Anyone know of any OEM part that would have been located here. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had several 35's and no OEM part goes there as far as I know.

I have never sen a '35 with the holes you described and I have owned several. I suspect they were placed there for possibly turn signals.

These are the only holes in the 1935 Ford passenger car front fenders.

They could be explained by someone adding turn signals but the number of holes and distance apart is puzzling.

The large hole of course is for the headlight mount and the small hole next to it is for the horn. The only unknown hole is the lower hole in the center of each fender.

I have more, mostly original, '35 passenger cars than I care to admit here, and also several extra sets of '35 front fenders, and none of these front fenders, left or right, have that hole with smaller holes on the sides. Those extra holes look very similar to holes we punched, in non related electrical equipment, to mount electrical sockets for indicator lights and/or plug connections. The two smaller holes would have been used for the mounting hardware. Just a wild a$$ guess.

JM 35 Sedan...Back when I was teaching Chemistry I introduced (some of) my students to the SWAG approach, standing for Scientific wild a.. guess. Putting the "Scientific" in front of it makes it sound impressive.

I wonder what kind of hole patterns are in 1935 Ford fenders that were used on police or fire chief's cars? ....Matt in Alameda
