I picked up this intake @Hershey, and found the oil fill neck fracture m a buddy of mine. 59ab big truck cab over maybe?

Re: Canadian Intake Question

I don't know what originally came on it, but it looks like a Corvair oil fill cap might work. No venting in the Corvair cap, it just seals the tube. Corvairs vented through the push rod tube o-rings, just kidding.:)

Tom .....I love those manifolds. As "handy" as you are at fabricating, here's a suggestion. Take one of these '63-'65 Corvette oil-fill tubes (available at all of the Vette outlets), along with this "twist-on" cap, cut that two-foot-long pipe down to some reasonable height, 'glue' them together....voila! You could even utilize the little HOSE connection for a PCV Valve, or not. The last picture shows what a Canadian friend of ours did with his similar manifold. He has mounted a PCV Valve below the plate. DD

Re: Canadian Intake Question

There is actually what could almost be called a tapped in hole for a PCV valve in this manifold.

Thanks so much for the ideas!

Re: Canadian Intake Question

Thanks so much, gents - I would like to use some version of the front fill pipe and incorporate a PCV valve. It all depends on the diameters of the Corvette and Corsair fill pipes vs the little over 1” OD of the stock pipe to see how much of a slice and dice it’s going to be ….

Re: Canadian Intake Question

Plain twist on petrol cap for a v8 should fit. that's what I have on my oil filer tube which is on Canadian Aluminum manifold.

Ha ha! I remember how they smelled. Couldn't keep the oil smell out of the ventilation system.

It's funny and just another example of how stubborn car companies are. All they had to do was copy VW's set up for the push rod tubes and the problem would be solved. Not sure why they felt they needed to reinvent the wheel.

I would argue that the problem was the material selected for the o-rings rather than the design of the tubes. Once Viton o-rings became available the problem was solved. The design was most likely driven by cost. The VW tubes and seals are much more robust.

I worked at a Chevy dealer when Corvairs still roamed the streets, don't get me started. :)

I hope all the cuts have healed from working with the sheet metal baffles.:)

I bet you have some great stories about them. I still have one, pretty rusty though.
