Ford script battery for '40?
 

Anyone know where I might purchase a proper style '40 battery? I'd be especially interested in an Optima within the Ford case.

I have one in my concourse 40 wagon, no points ever deducted for the battery. I had to paint gold the oval around the Ford script but everything else was really nice.

I wonder if the 6-volt Optima batteries are available again? They had them on back order for a long time.

Rotor-I bought one last week from a local "Batteries & Bulbs" place that sells them. They ordered it and it came in 1 week.

All they show is the red top now days. They don't mention a group size anymore. At $187 they are not cheap.

Yes, if you want something that looks like the original you would have to go with the place that makes them inside a script case (link in reply #2). I am using the red tops in my 32 5w, 33 phaeton and 40 coupe. I have the proper looking battery in my 40 wagon.

That place is way too expensive. I paid $100 for the Ford script empty case. Only have to add the Optima battery. No points knocked off.

Jim’s auto battery gets my kudos. I needed a battery for the Central National Meet for a 32 (same as Model A). They told me 4-8 weeks before it ships, in return I told them I need it within two weeks. Three days later I had it! Comes with a warranty and has performed well for the limited use I have given it
