Carb throttle not fully openning. With my foot pressed hard to the floor there is still a bit to go at the carb end.
What can be done to achieve full throttle ? |
Re: Carb throttle not fully openning. Simply bend the throttle linkage to get maximum throw. Bend it slow and cold.
It could be someone installed the engine with the linkage installed and bent it against the firewall. Easy peasy |
Re: Carb throttle not fully openning. Listen to the RawhideKid. He knows what he's talking about! Jeff

Re: Carb throttle not fully openning. Hey, thanks for the picture.
See where the arrow points? That is the easiest place to bend to fit. Won't hurt a thing to give it a little bend. |
Re: Carb throttle not fully openning. I was nervous about bending the throttle assembly as I was afraid it would break. What I did was make an adjustable rod that goes from the throttle assembly to the carburetor. I cut the rod in half and threaded both ends then threaded a small tube. Bolted everything together and stopped it with jam nuts. Adjusted it accordingly. It draws criticism from the purists, but it works great.

Re: Carb throttle not fully openning. That's exactly what I was thinking earlier today Tom Endy. Im see surprised no one has sold that rod that goes to the carb with an adjustable section in the middle

Re: Carb throttle not fully openning. Question does it go full throttle with the hand lever? If not then I have bent the arm in the picture with the arrow point to it. I slipped a box wrench over it and bent a little in several places.

Re: Carb throttle not fully openning. Those throttle assemblies get bent during engine removal an installation when they aren't removed.

Re: Carb throttle not fully openning. I gave the arm a slight bend with an old box wrench and its done the trick, :)
