Are these Ford wheels 3 Attachment(s)
Hey guy's, I have these bent spoke Kelsey Hayes 17 inch, 5 on 5 1/2 wheels, they look like Ford to me, except, I actually had a 34 in my shop last week, and took a picture of the wheel on the car, they are Kelsey Hayes, 17 inch ..
The painted one is off the 34 in my shop, the rusty one is the one in question, you can see the little lip on the back side, I have my finger on, the clean wheel doesn't have the lip. Any ideas ? Thanks ... |
Re: Are these Ford wheels Technically, neither of them are OEM Ford wheels, but rather replacements made by K/H for the aftermarket.

Re: Are these Ford wheels I don't know the answer to what your asking... but if they are Kelsey Hayes 17" wheels. They are very cool. A model A lowboy with some 17" seem neat.

Re: Are these Ford wheels Hey Davis, yea I know they are not " Ford " wheels, I guess I should have been more clear with my question,
I meant are they K/H wheels meant to go on a Ford, I guess as long as they are the right bolt pattern it don't matter what they go on, Mostly curious about the difference on the back side of the wheel .. |
Re: Are these Ford wheels The wheels made for Fords had a stepped mounting surface. I don’t know if these do. The way I tell wheels for Ford is I look for the parting line joint between the front and back of the hub. These also look to have a really big lip on the back of the hub.
I don’t think they are for a Ford. If they do not have the step, DO NOT use them with 32-35 hubs. I almost lost a car because the wheels did not seat and the lug nuts came off. |
Re: Are these Ford wheels How do you know that they are Kelsey Hayes? There were other wheel makers such as Motor Wheel. The distinctive KH stamp inside the hoop will tell unless lost in rust. They may not even be Ford compatible. Ford wires and Ford replacement/accessory which may not be Ford offset or perhaps greater width for cars with say 6.50"s for commercials. "as long as they are the right bolt pattern it don't matter what they go on...NOT! Why are spacer rings sold to mount Ford wires on later Ford drums of the same bolt pattern? I see those wheels often and imagine they're from another make of car. Chevrolet is proud enough to use six lugs giving us a clue. Good Luck: Fred A

Re: Are these Ford wheels The older big Chrysler products also used the 5 on 5 1/2 pattern.
