302 into 1953 ford

I am sorry about the mix up I meant to say 1953 instead of 54 ,but what I want to really know is which motor should I get 302 or 360 for the 53 . don't know yet if butch makes a conversion kit for the 360

302 is far a better motor

Think you might do better asking on the HAMB.

We had a 302 in a '37 Ford pickup years ago, worked great and fit nicely too. Hope this helps.

A big block 360 FE motor will be a tighter squeeze.

I had one in a 52 PU. Fit like a glove. C4 and 8" with 3.06. Great driver, quick with good mielage. Doz this belong on the HAmb??

Well, it's not an SBC. So I guess, yes. Did I guess right? 8^) Jack E/NJ

I would go with the 302. Kits are available to install. I few mods to the engine and it will be a screamer.

You will need a rear sump pan from a pickup or van,be sure to get the special main bearing bolt with a 3/8 ths. stud purtruding from the head of the main bearing bolt and the dipstick and tube.
