Intake manifold Gaskets for 1913
 

I have found that the 1912 and 1913 had Aluminum intake manifolds that had protuberances that entered into the intake port on the block casting .The copper crush gaskets for later models will not work . I need FLAT copper gaskets aprox 1.25 " ID . Snyders is not familiar with this set up . Anyone know a source for this type of gasket ?

I have owned several early T's including a 1913 with the aluminum manifold. Like all other T's it uses the same copper crush gasket that Ford used from 1909 - 1927. They are flat after they are used once. When they are flat you throw them away.

old topic, but I bought gasket kit, who had paper manifold gaskets and they turn into dust in less than 100 miles.
Now I see several choices of copper gaskets, so any recommendations?

if the exhaust manifold is straight, go with No 1 or 4 on that list.

Since paper gaskets work on my manifold, although for short time, I assumed my manifold is straight.
Yet after spending over 2 hr trying to make the glands/copper gaskets working, what include cutting wood blocks to support intake manifold, disconnecting the muffler, I could never make them seal.
So finally took it all apart to measure that OC between hole #1 and #4 on the manifold is about 1/8" bigger than on the head.
Is it possible that manifold from different year had slightly different dimensions? Still scratching my head how this could happen.
Glands would never fit into holes on both sides.
So now I think copper flat gaskets T-3063-C are my better choice?
Any advise?

First you need to verify that your exhaust manifold is straight - you need a steel straight edge, not a piece of wood or bench top. Lay the straight edge along the BOTTOM of # 1 & #4 ports and see where #2 & #3 are - if ANY visual difference between the 4 ports, the ring & glands won't work for you. Best option is to purchase a new exhaust manifold - they're not that expensive and a good copy !

My procedure for installing manifolds is first to get an extra pair of manifold clamps & cut off one leg so just the hole & leg is left, lay them within reach on top of the engine. I install the steel rings into the block then install the copper crush gland onto the ring, install intake manifold first to visually verify that it seated, hold with one hand & start a cut-off clamp onto each stud & tighten nut finger tight or just snug with a wrench, then same drill with the exhaust ports - ring & gland into the block, again have the 4 original clamps & nuts (I use brass) within easy reach then you can visually look down over the top of the exhaust manifold and verify it went home (seated on all 4 ports) - you can usually "feel" it set - again one handed, grab a clamp and install on the front & rear studs to hold the exhaust on then remove one cut-off intake clamp at a time. I tighten front to back evenly until good & snug then after getting the engine up to operating temperature and verify no leaks, let it cool down and tighten again in sequence.

Would you have a source for the manifold? Ebay is not having any and my worry is that what if next manifold will have the same OC like mine now?
How that could happen?
Anyway, since paper gaskets did work for the time they did, I ordered copper gaskets and hope for the best.

Purchase from Lang's or Snyder's - don't buy off Ebay - there's a reason it's for sale on that site !

I bought from Snyder's and it works now. Their manifold studs are about 1/2" too short, so I can't use them and had to reuse old stuff.
Took me some time to have engine running again as it was making few turns and dying.
First I was suspecting leak on intake manifold, than something in carburetor, finally turned out that the small air filter I add got clog after about 50 miles of driving.
