Safety or not On my 1926 model t the previous owner cut down the windshield. How can I tell if it’s safety Or tempered glass.
Thanks Jerry |
Re: Safety or not You could tap on it lightly and listen for a muffled clink due to the plastic in the middle of safty glass.

Re: Safety or not My friend said the same thing. There is a YouTube video showing different glass and thickness.

Re: Safety or not Take it to a local glass shop (not franchise) and have them check it.
The State Policeman in charge of inspections, a sergeant, for this area of Virginia told me that the windshield on my speedster was not safety glass. I took it to a local glass shop for replacement, they took a quick look and told me that what I had was safety glass. You definitely want safety glass! |
Re: Safety or not Hold a burning match or lighter next to the glass. Reflection of one flame is single pane glass and a reflection of two flames is double pane glass.

Re: Safety or not I have tried that lighter thing next to the thick plate glass used in the early cars like T's, and saw two reflections. The only two self tests I would trust; edge delamanaton (bubbles between the two) and looking at the raw edges.
