Thermostats There has been a very long discussion on thermostats & I have read most of the threads & I am still confused (which is normal for me) I have a 21 stud 1934 with water pumps in the head (Skip's) I don't think that Henry put thermostats in that engine (correct me if I'm wrong) The only place that I can see to put the thermostats is in the hose's. Please advise me as where to install them (Close to radiator or close to heads) & which thermostat to use & how to install them. Any & all help will be appreciated.
Thank you. Gary. |
Re: Thermostats Thermostats for 32-36 are Ford Part Number 40-8575-A 140-145°. The thermostat goes in the hose.

Re: Thermostats 1 Attachment(s)
Gary-
I have them on my '35 and '36. As mentioned, they go in the upper radiator hoses and are kept in place with a radiator hose clamp. Picture enclosed is of my '35. The extra hose below the clamp is for my heater. Hope this helps. Tom |
Re: Thermostats Tom, Where did you get your thermostats? I'm not finding them at the usual sources.

Re: Thermostats Henry-
Check your PM. Tom |
Re: Thermostats Those look like they would be a major flow restriction.

Re: Thermostats Quote:
My vehicle currently has no thermostats in it. OK for now, still cleaning the block and radiator out. |
Re: Thermostats Quote:
Newer styles are more restrictive and some guys drill relief holes around the edges. |
Re: Thermostats Maybe so, but look at the size of that spring. Looks like a pretty large restriction to me.
