Anyone know of a guy or shop that can provide maintenance on these rear view mirror clocks ?

Is it a stem wind? I am guessing it is a newer item, if so, any good watch repair shop should be able to service it. I have one out of my great aunts 36. It has a pull cord wind. I need to have it serviced too when time allows.

If you can't find a local shop that does antique watch repair, I would reach out to the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors. Most of the old-timers are members. Find the contact information for the closest chapter and reach out to them for a referral.

If that is the modern mirror and clock available from the vendors, it cannot be repaired. I tried. Although I am not a clock repair man, I have repaired many clocks in the past. The modern wind up clock on the mirror is glued together and to the mirror and is is ruined if you try to pry it apart. You can buy a cheap battery powered clock on the internet that will run for a long time and the battery can be replaced when it goes flat. That is what I did, and just glued the clock onto the back of the mirror with silicone adhesive. Doesn't say Ford but works great.

If you can open it up without damaging it, and the main spring and the hair spring on the little wheel that runs back and forth is not broke you can spray it with WD 40, give the little wheel a nudge and it will run and keep time. I have done this on number of clocks,
wind up and power supplied clocks.

Better to use a light grade of oil, like 3 in 1. The WD-40 is fish oil and will eventually evaporate. Best still is to use a toothpick to apply small drops of oil on the bearings and gears. Too much oil can interfere with the turning of the gears, especially the timing wheel. Be very careful not to damage anything.

If you have a broken main spring you can usually fix it by bending the end to make a new catch. The main spring usually breaks at the ends. Taking the main spring out is like opening a jack-in-the-box. It will jump out at you.

I used the large 11 dollar mirror from the major suppliers and a 5 dollar dash clock from ebay.

If that is an old clock and worth repairing try Jerrys clock works. Pretty sure he is in Minnesota (there may be another guy that pops up with a search?) I used him to repair the quartz clock in my 70's car. Did a great job, relatively inexpensive and the turnaround time was very good.

I was referred to The Clock Works by a friend of mine.....though I ended up selling my clock before I had it serviced, so I do not have any first hand experience with them. They specialize in repairing old car clocks and might be worth a try.
