VO meter question I was checking the volts of two batteries in the shop last night with my multimeter. When I checked one it almost instantly showed 5.7v and started to climbing to 5.8V within about 5 seconds where it seemed to stop. When I checked the second battery it instantly showed about 2.7V and slowly started climbing like filling your car with gas at the gas pump, I stood there for at least a minute (slightly longer) as it would climb all the way to 5.85V is where it seemed to stop!!! It would climb at a slow but steady rate for a bit, then it would climb .01 volt every three or four seconds, THEN at a point start climb at a constant steady rate again THEN slow back down and move .01 volts every 3 - 5 seconds and pick back up again. What's up OR WHY? I could go back to the other battery and BAM, 5.73V and climb again to 5.8 within a few seconds!!!

Re: VO meter question You don't seem to be considering that the meter may be faulty, try another meter.

Re: VO meter question 1 Attachment(s)
I bought a bunch of these analog multimeters at a dollar store in Texas about 15 years ago, gave them all away except one. Rock Auto carry’s them and I’m sure eBay has them also. I keep one in my trunk of my ‘41, these analog meters seem to work better on old 6 volt circuits than the new digital ones.

Re: VO meter question Make sure your battery post are clean. If so, as mentioned above try analog meter.

Re: VO meter question Acting like the battery in the meter going dead.
