Oil filter mounting I have a 39 model V8 i want to put a filter on,but I dont have the fitting on the oil pan nor is ther a inlet on the block for the return. Is there any other place to return the oil to the motor? thanks

Re: Oil filter mounting I've seen it dump in the fuel pump stand with a fitting installed in the stand itself.

Re: Oil filter mounting The first location was at the fuel pump, a hollow mounting bolt with a banjo fitting. Changed in 1940 due to excess oil vapor escape from the breather. Same bolt was then used for mounting at the distributor. That was messy also, so postwar relocated to the dipstick boss. There was no other stock return method.

Re: Oil filter mounting 1 Attachment(s)
This Is available from C&G ford parts in California. It has the threaded hole for the oil return line.

Re: Oil filter mounting I have good luck with taping the timing gear cover at the 2:00 o clock position, looking at the front. drill and tap for 1/8 pipe. has worked well and the distributor did not fill with oil and the front seal did not leak any more than it did before I added the filter. the oil is much cleaner though I still change oil at 1000 mi.

Re: Oil filter mounting Thanks for your reply. Im trying to keep as close to stock as possable, but I am open for ideas. The comment on the fuel pump stand may be the best way,but finding one of the bolts might be a chore.
