horn rod

I thought I would start a new thread for this. I was wrong, we took the horn rod out and there is a wire running through it. The problem seems to be that the horn rod does not go down far enough to make contact with the grd terminal in the light switch it is 45 3/4 inches long that is the longest one they show in the catalogs. So when you push the button is does not complete the circuit. We removed the steering wheel and pit the rod in and it still is to short. We cold jury rig it up to work but just don't understand why this is happening.
Thanks

Longest Snyder's shows is 45-31/32" and this for the 1930-31 Gemmer setup. Keep in mind the measure is made from the "underside" ring of the switch handle (the part that touches the nut/steering column) to the end of the nub contact at the lower end.

There is no need to hash stuff togther if you have the correct parts and follow the directions. Correct replacement light rods fit. Figure out where the problem lies, and do it right. You’ll be happier in the end.

Is your light switch fitting/seating all the way in?
