Touring cam vs Model B cam

Is there any difference between the two cams, other than the lobe to drive the fuel pump?

You would have to be more specific.

Who's 'touring' cam?

Anyone can make up a cam and call it touring. The question is what is the timing and height of the lobes? Is this a regrind or one of new cams you can buy?

A combination of modern fuels and a better understanding of the combustion process allows for more power and efficiency with different lift and timing. The changes can change how the A engine sounds and performs. Also you may need to add compression to be more effective.

When changing cams you also need to know which is the correct size tappet head. With the change in lobe shape you may need a larger head or it wears the cam lobes.

You can learn a lot more by visiting Vince Falter's website. He, as usual, does a great page on cams.

You're right. I could have been more specific. I was referring to an off the shelf touring cam from Snyders compared to a Model B cam. Is their cam just a higher lift regrind original or is the profile different, too. The Model B seems to be both different profile and higher lift.
Thanks.

Snyder's B-6250-N Camshaft they list in their catalog is a Stipe IB330, or at least they were when I bought mine several years ago.

Re: Touring cam vs Model B cam

The main physical difference is the pump lobe. A touring cam is generally a mild performance cam. The latest factory B cam had .339" lobe lift and makes a great touring cam.
