1923 Canadian Tudor

Although I have been interested in Model A's for 60 years & owned one for 50years, I had my first ride & drive of a '23 Tudor today.
Owned by a friend, this car has not been road legal for about 57 years & we were doing some adjustments before it can be vinned.
Question - how much play should there be in the tie rod ends where it is attached to the spindle arm? It has ánti rattlers'fitted but with these off, there is play where the bolts fit through on the spindle arm.
It steers quite good but there is not much toe in & we could not budge the tie rod to turn it ; rusted stuck in the threads on right side but will get it right.

Any play is detrimental to tight steering. The anti rattle parts were put on because things are worn.

Replacing those bushes isn't that hard. The anti-rattle springs are kind of a 'get by' method.

This is the Tudor in question. We did the front end joints & a slogged out king pin plus many other small jobs . Car looks tidy & has been repainted, re wired & new upholstery but has not had a major rebuild except normal stuff prior to 1962. It runs well & we expect normal teething problems. Will have to wait until all this virus mess is over until it can get registered & back on road.

That is a nice looking car and a very classy looking tool cabinet too!

Every man discards his tool cabinet in favour of a wardrobe !
