You weren't properly dressed unless you wore a nice hat.

America really was GREAT back then.

There is a model A Ford mail truck around the 30 second mark at the beginning of the video.

Funny you mentioned that. I have a picture of my grandfather and uncle small game hunting wearing a tie. Wearing a tie was a every day thing back then

The San Francisco hills are why Studebaker had hill holders when the clutch was at the floor.
At around 8:30 look at the sign on the shop, rent a car for $2.50 a day. Around 8:40 the sign says $32.50 paints any car.

My dad wore a hat in that era. He quit when someone told him it would make him bald...didn't help. :D

That’s a great film! Always like to see how it actually was. I liked the Roadster at 7:41 with the WWW tires, I wonder what year this was made, newest car I saw was 42, but this was probably made during the war.

That was very enjoyable to watch. Thanks for posting! At least one clip was post war. Saw a couple of advanced design chev trucks. '47 or newer. I also noticed how FEW model As around. Rusting in junk yards or scrapped for the war effort.

The '42 @ 1:06 is almost the same color as my '41.

I'm old enough to remember those days, even the 'hot rods'

My father wore a hat when I was a kid, as all gentlemen did, until Kennedy was elected president, who did not wear a hat, and so followed the general public. I dont think you can find a hat in a store anymore unless it is a baseball cap. And even the kids have not figured out that the bill on the cap is a sun shade for the eyes.

6:24 and 7:41 have a couple of roadsters, one fenderless and the other fenders and white walls!

Those hills! Brake and clutch repair shops must have done well in that area.
I like this one from 1957 that has several views of a 52 Mercury cruising right by the camera car.

Wearing a cap backwards, you might as well not wear it. But kids think its cool so they all do it. I've got a couple of old hats my great uncles wore that would probably look right driving the 52 Merc but they are a little tight on my head.
