30 pickup running boards

I just installed new truck boards on our 30 pickup. Is there suppose to be welying between the fenders and boards at either end? Thanks in advance for the help

Fender welt was not originally used here. I've seen it done frequently, however. If you are concerned about metal on metal here, put a strip of electrician's (friction tape) tape between fender edge and r/b edge. It will be invisible and accomplish what I believe you intend.
