Help Identifying Model

1 Attachment(s)
Greetings the photo is my Great Grandfather next to his Ford truck dated 1923. Not sure if the date is right, but I am needing to identify the model and year if possible. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Mid 20s Mack maybe, not Ford. You might try posting on; Smokstak® Antique Engine Community

in the car and truck section. https://www.smokstak.com/forum/forum...and-trucks.57/

Looks like it could be a military standard Liberty surplus truck.

The 8 holes in the front crossmember are typical of the Federal Motor Truck Company rig. I might guess 1918 to 1920 or so. Google images of 1918 Federal Trucks to see the similarities. The license plate looks more like a 1921 New York to me.
Cool photo.

Cool photo.

I don’t know what year it is, but it sure is a cool looking truck

Yup, and so is gramps with his pipe, shades and flat-hat. But he must have needed a ladder to roll those side curtains up/down.

Bet they could have been unbuckled from the inside before loading. :)

Could be, but how to roll them back up? Curtain appears to be tightly rolled under itself. Don't think it would work like a roman shade - maybe some sort of crank mechanism on the back of the truck?

Re: Help Identifying Model

LOL The question was how to unfurl, not roll back up! :) Maybe then you would need a ladder come next summer.

Actually, my question was how to roll back up as well as unfurl - note the bold:

It's winter in the pic and the curtains still are rolled up - maybe he didn't have a ladder. :D

Sorry, assumed it was since we've been posting back and forth and the reply immediately followed my post.
