Temp. guage sending unit. A friend of mine is assembling the temp sending units on his 8BA motor. He wants to know in which head does the one with two terminal go and which one does the one with one terminal go. Also if he wants to bench test his units before installation what values should they read. He is using an 8 volt battery in this app. Should that have any affect on the sending units. A wiring diagram from the sending units to the guage would probably help as well.. Bill

Re: Temp. guage sending unit. Single terminal temp sender goes on PASS side head. Using the SEARCH function reveals
testing and operation here: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...+sending+units I think using a 6V battery or dry cell would yield better results with no chance of damaging gauge or the sending units designed to operate on 6 volts. |
Re: Temp. guage sending unit. The KS units are fairly tolerant to voltage variation.
You canīt measure them for a value more then that the contact points in the sender is ok. Wiring is pretty simple frome the single pole (which is the temp sender) to the 2 pole (which is a overheat switch that when opens peg the gauge) to the gauge. |
Re: Temp. guage sending unit. Thanks for the clear illustrations and diagrams. I have forwarded the info to him. B.
