40 Ford rear hubs I am usually on the Model A forum, but I am building a hotrod using a 40 Ford Banjo rear end. One of my hubs is pitted in the bearing race.Is there a sleeve that can be used to fix this hub, or is there some fix short of replacement. Thanks in advance for your information.

Re: 40 Ford rear hubs I am not aware of any sleeve system and I will tell you the hub housing, in the bearing area, is VERY difficult to rebore with a cutting tool.
There have been some adaptations of different bearings in the hubs. I think Lawrie on this site listed some info several months ago. A search might turn something up. Finally, how bad is it and how much use is intended?? I have seen some really raunchy bearing bores that had no undesirable affect on the bearing. If you can not locate a better hub a careful exam might be in order. The Ford bearing is wide and apparently can pass over some pitted areas without sustaining immediate damage. |
Re: 40 Ford rear hubs Are you asking about the hub or the axle housing??

Re: 40 Ford rear hubs If it's the hub, you can buy new re-pops. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speed...5-BP,8333.html

If that is the case you can buy a new race, have your axle housing machined down and press on the new bearing race. Let us know specifically what you are speaking of. |
Re: 40 Ford rear hubs I am talking about the hub, not the axle race
