'39 Windshield frame fit I just installed a windshield frame in my '39 two door. It came out of a different car. A friend of mine and I put it in and it fits very loosely at the ends and just doesn't seem to fit tightly at all anywhere. Do I need to loosen all the adjusting screws at the top when I put it in? The seal, a new Bob Drake curled around a lot at the outer edges. What do I need to do? Thanks in advance, Rod

Re: '39 Windshield frame fit There is an adjustment plate in the windshield panel. Loosening the screws will allow you to center the windshield up and down while a spacer will space it in or out. If your frame fits the opening but is not tight at the corners and came from another vehicle most likely it is just bent slightly flatter and this is easily corrected by just giving it a little more bend at the center, this will tuck the edges in tighter.

Re: '39 Windshield frame fit Hi Dick, and thanks for the reply. I'll try the adjustment thing. I think that's the main problem. Thanks again, Rod

Re: '39 Windshield frame fit I also have a 39 With a poor fitting windshield. Leaks in upper out side corners.
How do go about bending a little in the center ?? |
Re: '39 Windshield frame fit Grumpys, its simple Take a 2" od piece of pipe about 18" long, Put it on a work bench, Place the windshield frame on the pipe with the center strip on parallel to the pipe center. Push down easliy and equally on each end to V bend the frame. You may have to use a 2 x 6 as a spacer under the pipe to raise the windshield high enough on a flat table to make the bend.
