Need help identifying 1929 model AA truck
 

Hey all new to the site and recently purchased my first model A or I should say model AA 1929 truck. I have attached a photo, looking to get some help identifying what platform this truck may be. I have not had a chance to make many measurements but I know box width is 7'6'' that is outside to outside not inside the sides. Also the side boards are stamped with omaha standard stamp and it has what I would call the Grain side extensions also. Just looking for a little help to identify what I have. Thanks all

Hi Jbeavers and welcome to the site. Not being an expert but I do know you have the long wheel based version of the AA (157"?). Other will correct me if I am wrong, there is also a AA website you may want to check out. I believe it is in the sticky at the top of the page. I think the bed may be non-Ford.

That's a short wheel base, the long wheel base came out in 1930.
There looks like and extension was added to the end of the frame
for the after market bed.

Hey thanks guys, i was thinking the bed was aftermarket, is thier anyway can figure out just how it came off the line back in 1929?

Not really...However it could of came off the assembly line in one of these ways:

Truck Chassis with no back body or platform...just the cab;
Cab plus the Express body;
Cab plus platform;

If it came with a platform, then one could have got the following depending on the usage:

Stake racks or Grain sides.

That's a great find, looks like your an oil change and a few tires away from a good Sunday drive.

Sure looks like a custom bed, there were many aftermarket frame extension/bed makers, are there any data plates attached to the inside or outside of the frame rails?

I had a frame with the FABCO tag on it...#1469.

Your 1929 AA truck most likely came off the assembly line as a 131.5" AA chassis with a 82A closed cab. At some point after it arrived at the dealership (by dealer before sale, by dealer after sale for customer or after purchase by customer from outside vendor) the flat bed with sides was added. It does not look like the frame was extended.
