Sticky piston rings

I'm thinking I might possibly have some stuck piston rings on a running 1940 ford v8. Any ideas I could try short of engine removal. Basically a quite smooth running motor. Smokes a little and compression is lower on a couple cylinders.
Thanks

Remove the plugs and add auto trans fluid in equal parts to the cylinders you want to unstick. You need to use enough to cover the piston. Add more again in a couple of days. Drain the oil after a week or so and see if that doesn't free them up. A compression check before starting can tell a bunch. Take a reading and then add some oil and take another, if there is change it usually is leaking past the rings.

I've had great results with Marvel Mystery Oil in every engine I've used it in. I add to gas at every fill up and occasionally add to oil.
