shut off valve

Does any of the suppliers sale a ball valve for under tank shut off instead of the tapered 1/4 mpt x 3/8 flared valve.
Thanks
Dana

Re: shut off valve

I buy ball valves for my air compressor drains, but don't know how they'd stand up to crap gas.

Bratton's has one, as I'm sure other vendors do. Have not used one tho. https://www.brattons.com/28-29-gas-l...e-in-line.html

McMaster-Carr has a large selection of ball valves. They should have one that you could use to "stand up to crap gas". They even have some 90° ball valves that may fit in the stock location.http://www.mcmaster.com/#ball-valves/=12kddw7

Let us know if you find one.

One choice is as follows:
As Y stated, purchase a simple on off ball valve for caustic fluids (Ace or other hardware stores sometimes carry them), usually 1/8". Wait until tank is low or empty and remove fitting from tank bottom and install brass elbow. Save original inside gas line and original valve as backup or for show. Purchase (extra) stock A inside gas line and measure for the new ball valve with compression fittings on each end and install valve at midpoint or so of stock gas line. Have had no trouble so far with ethanol laced gas.

I replaced my valve with a perfect fitting needle type valve from the Hardware Store----$3.99--CHEEP!

Re: shut off valve

How long do the electrically operated shut off valve last? I have had one in my 31 coupe for about six months now and I can wipe color off the bottom of the valve. My bride tells me that she can smell gas every once in a while. Usually at the end of the day I turn of the original shut of and use the electric one at the store, or short stops. Over night, I turn of the original.

I have no problem with the electric shut off valve. The mechanical valve rarely ever gets turned off. Can't remember when I first put it on, probably 5+ years ago.
