Thanks Ryan, I'm looking forward to the story. Just think of all the people you know today that haven't driven across the country, must have been very special people to do it in 1928, and the ones that did it in wagons were truely amazing.

When I saw this post, I thought you were referring to a book that I read just a few months ago entitled "Eight Women, Two Model Ts, and the American West" by Joanne Wilke. This book is wonderful in that is taken from a couple of journals that the girls kept while on their trip in 1924. The girls were just getting out of college, wanted to see the west coast, pooled their money and bought two new 1924 Model Ts and left from Marshalltown, Iowa via the Lincoln Highway. There are plenty of pictures. They dealt with many of the same problems that we restorers face today. Nothing has changed with the Model T. It made me feel guilty for doubting the capability of the Model T. I am always "on edge" when I travel very far from home in my 1914 T. I believe that the book is available in paperback on Amazon. It is a great read just before you turn off the lights. Ed

Ed, I think most of us are a little on edge when we journey away from home with our T's. But I'm willing to take on the risk and try to drive my T as much as possible and as far as I dare. I'll attempt to find "Eight Women, Two Model T's". I'm always interested in a good read.

Reminds me of the book "The Ford Tramps" where two young guys travel the US on their '17 Touring in 1924/'25. Average speed 25mph. Fantastic read as it gives a detailed insight into the conditions of the time.

I drove my 1923 touring from Swedens Capital city of Stockholm up thru the "alps" of Sweden and Norway, to the northern most point of Europe at Nordkap (Northcape) , and back again, way back in 1986. That was a trip of 4000 km and we only had one incident; we dropped the exhaust pipe at full speed!

I hope to drive our 1925 sedan from indiana to south tennesee someday. My wifes great grandpa had a t dealership at that time.I plan on driving through the town in tennesee where it was as it is literally on the way to the end destination of shelbyville from our home.I believe it will be a grand adventure for our two year old!
