Nashville/North Alabama Auto Events Jan. 16-25?

My wife and I are flying into Nashville Friday, Jan. 15. We then drive to Florence/Huntsville Alabama area and stay until about Jan.20. Then we return to Nashville to stay until Jan.26. Are there any auto related attractions or events in those areas that we could attend? Unfortunately Helen Keller didn't have any cars https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif. I realize this time of the year is pretty dead but it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks. Jim

If you like odd and unusual cars, you might try the Lane Auto Museum on Murfreesboro Road.

Lane Auto Muesem in Nashville, Coker tire in Chattanooga, American Pickers at the Marathon Motors building in Nashville. There is also a swap meet in Nashville Feb 1st, or if you like Early V8's stop by my place!

If you like vintage military vehicles (and what red-blooded American doesn't?) try:
Veterans Memorial Museum at 2060-A Airport road in Huntsville. It houses the oldest Ford military jeep in existence.......... Gajeepguy

Thanks for all of the great replies! I appreciate military vehicles too as I have an all original 1954 M38A1 Jeep that came with its white stars and military manuals.

Hi Everyone, Not auto related, and I haven't been there, but in Huntsville, there's the Redstone Arsenal and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.

VeryTangled: Thanks for the tip, we have toured those on a previous visit. They are well worth the time and we should consider going again sometime.

Put the Natchez trace on your route to Alabama, it starts near Nashville, do a wikipedia search. Before train travel, goods would float down the rivers and this is the route they walked back on. The route is part of a National Park, no commercial traffic. Your wife will love it.

Hi, Here's another non auto idea. Right across from Florence is Muscle Shoals. There is a history of important musical recordings being done in that area if that's your cup of tea.

Another hint, I find tripadvisor.com, and their 'things to do' area, to be an alternate source of ideas.

I live in Montana and am visiting inlaws near Florence, AL. We are spending a few days in Nashville to take in some sights. We lived in Clarksville, TN in the early 1980s but only visited Opryland.

I'm from that area and there's just not anything automotive that I can think of to see in that area. The Redstone Arsenal and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center are very good. There is a Saturn V and a space shuttle mock up there. That could take a couple of days to see it all. You could go see Wilson Dam and the Tennessee River also the Forks of Cyprus, a supposed haunted burnt out Antebellum mansion just south of Muscle Shoals. Or you could take a couple hours drive and tour the Mercedes plant in Vance, Al. There is an automotive museum there also.
