New release of restoration guidelines

I see on the MAFCA website the release date for the new restoration guidelines has been changed to December. I'm growing old waiting for these.....

Are you really surprised? Be surprised if it is not delayed further. Wayne

Re: New release of restoration guidelines

When I paid them for mine back in mid August, I was told they would be mailed out to us by mid Oct. @ the latest, & "maybe" would be for sale at Hershey.. I guess we can look for April - May for the next change/update.. Like the last time I guess its the printers fault ??

Re: New release of restoration guidelines

If you think that waiting for the new guidelines is tough . . . . you ought to try doing all the research, documentation, consensus-building, reconciling discrepancies, editing, revising text, etc., etc., etc.

I get exhausted just thinking about all the work (for FREE) that the dedicated men who gave up a considerable amount of their time to do this research, has given to get this body of work done.

I want to thank each and every one of those tireless and dedicated volunteers !

Like Christmas to young boy - it will be well worth the wait.

I agree they are great people but why does the organization make promises they can't keep. Their integrity is sadly lacking. Wayne

Re: New release of restoration guidelines

Revision 4 of the Guidelines is at the printers and they turn out the material very quickly! The wait is nearly over and I am sure you will find the new material is worth the wait.

I am glad to see this phase over and I can again spend my spare time actually working on a Model A!

It has been 12 years since the two Judging Standards Committees started work on updating the Guidelines (Revision 3 was printed in 2011). We found lots of new material to add and in the end had very few disagreements to resolve. For anyone that wants details about their vehicle, this is the book for you!

Re: New release of restoration guidelines

If I enter my car in fine point at Branson in 2018 what standards will apply at that time ? I was told that the current standards would apply but would like to confirm. Thanks for all the effort put forth to compile all the details. I understand there is quite a team working for years to put all the information together. Thanks , Norm

Re: New release of restoration guidelines

Great to know that, they are at the printers. I too really appreciate the time and effort over many years, that goes into making this publication, it is the best in my humble opinion. I am getting a little jittery as I am in the process of reviewing our New Zealand standards, and was concerned that there could be clashes of information, particularly in the Canadian section, so was holding off on the draft until I can cast an eye over the revisions.

Re: New release of restoration guidelines

As one of the Publication Committee members, I want to thank Doug Clayton for his dedication to getting the new Restoration Guidelines completed:D. He spent untold hours working at writing, rewriting and making sure that the small details were correct. He was a great committee chairman.

Also, Tim Johnstone and Marco Tahtaras spent a lot of time, along with the rest of the committee, making sure as much as possible was accurate.

The new Restoration Guidelines are a great improvement over the previous revision, but there will always be room for future corrections as new information becomes available.

Doug, THANK YOU very, very much for your faithful leadership and commitment.
