Jet size Help ford barn recommend jet size for three Stromberg 97 carburetors running straight linkage. I am running a 3/8 by 3/8 ported and relieved 59 AB flathead.

Re: Jet size Start with the standard .45's - and see how the plugs look. You can't check the plugs unless you load test it on the road, put the clutch in, shut the engine down and roll to a stop - then check your plugs. Today's fuel doesn't color plugs much - so hopefully you're used to looking at plugs with it. If the insulator is bright white and/or the plating is starting to bubble around the bottom edge, then you are too lean (this is assuming you're running a plated plug like an NGK B6L). Also, the engine really needs to be broken in first - if it is a new startup, then break the rings in first, get the thing tuned, get the advance set correctly . . . THEN worry about jets and power valves.
What CAM is in it? What ignition and how much total advance? |
