Re: 1940 Convertible Windshield Garnish Moldings & Rear Seat You can make the interior garnish moulding pretty easily from '40 truck moldings. You have to make 2 cuts in each one to make it work. The rear seat springs are available from Snyder's. I bought 2 sets last year. They did a good job on mine. The rear springs are pretty $$$.

Re: 1940 Convertible Windshield Garnish Moldings & Rear Seat the closed car moldings are different on the ends that go to the center. the countersunk screw hole spacing is different. the radius at the bottom is different. the height is about 1/2" higher than the conv. the center molding is completely different. station wagons are same as conv.

Re: 1940 Convertible Windshield Garnish Moldings & Rear Seat 40-47 pickup garnish moldings are a close fit & can be altered to suit.

Re: 1940 Convertible Windshield Garnish Moldings & Rear Seat I'm needing both items as well.I have some pickup mouldings,so will try making them fit.I called Snyder, and they are spendy.I'm also needing the driver's door side garnish moulding.

Re: 1940 Convertible Windshield Garnish Moldings & Rear Seat I thought the truck mouldings were the same as a closed car.

Re: 1940 Convertible Windshield Garnish Moldings & Rear Seat hey milt: the 40-47 truck & 40 closed car garnish moldings will work but i am told they are 1/2 to 3/4" too tall, the only extra convertible parts i have are a driver's side door glass stainless & a no draft for the same side i think
thanks dave |
Re: 1940 Convertible Windshield Garnish Moldings & Rear Seat Dave,I found that the p/u mouldings were too tall for a closed car.I have p/u mouldings in my coupe, and they didn't fit exactly. The chrome shop(went out of business)gave me someone else's mouldings.

Re: 1940 Convertible Windshield Garnish Moldings & Rear Seat TTT
i know the moldings can be made but if anyone has some made-up or even some fiberglass ones from downs etc. standard height, not chopped, i'm not in a hurry, also still need rear seat or just reasonably priced top/bottom rear seat springs. i've either sold/traded any of my spare convertible parts except for the top parts, i have extra side irons etc but have to check all my top stuff over thoroughly. Thanks Dave |
