Tanks,Inc.

If anyone needs a tank for a 1950 mercury, I would not advise Tanks, Inc. I bought one for my car, and the third day, I made it fit. It bolts right in, if you drill new holes in the frame, and alter the filler pipe, and redrill the sender hole to accept the old sender, cause the new sender doesn't work with the original guage. And, I suppose every vendor is getting their tanks from the same source in Tiawan.
You GOTTA LOVE IT.

And what did Tanks, Inc. say when you contacted them about the fitment issues you described?

Re: Tanks,Inc.

I haven't seen one for a while but the last one I looked at seemed to have the three holes in the right places and the filler bung was in the left rear corner where it's supposed to be. They never did put the OEM type sender bungs in them though. That's the only reason I never tried one. I've always managed to find decent originals but time is against finding too many more.

I've had a couple of Tanks for a 40 ford, the 1st one had I had to drill out the 3 mounting holes t0 3/8s.The original holes were 9mm which is non existant, other wise there were no other problems. The second tank I couldn't use because it would'nt fit a TCI frame.

I have a tanks Inc. tank in a 50 Fordor. It fit just fine in all respects. The only complaint I had was it doesn’t have a drain bung in the left front corner. I recently replaced my sending unit and looking inside the tank it looks just like it did when I first mounted it. The ethanol gas has not hurt the inside coating at all....... Mark

I have their tank in my 1950 Crestliner and it fit fine. Maybe you got the wrong tank?

ya , I put one in my '41 and same problem with the sender. guess they're all made for aftermarket senders. found a sender thru Yogi's that fit and operates with my stock gauge. also there was supposed to be inserts in the front flange to mount it to the frame and they were missing. I put mine in 15 yrs ago or more . I guess they do things their way

Re: Tanks,Inc.

I am glad some of you had good fits. the major problem was the filler bung was about 3/4" to the right, looking from the rear, so things had to be shifted around. Then, the fuel inlet was plumbed with 3/8" pipe so had to get that back to fuel line size, and fittings. Good news is it is in there, does not leak, my original sender(after drilling old pattern) works fine, and will outlive me.
