Re: Old Ford Pictures - social group RACERON1120 ....................................
On the previous page, you have two photos from the days of beach racing at Daytona Beach, Fla. In the first one, of Jack Bowsher, #21, you can definately see the ocean, in the background. The second photo, where the cars missed the turn, is the south turn, where the cars came off the paved road, onto the sand, Many just hit the turn too fast. Southbound was the paved Rte. 1 and northbound, of the loop was the sandy beach. The whole loop was about five miles. This was the birthplace of NASCAR. The last beach race was in 1958. MIKE :) |

I met Jack Bowsher about 20 years ago when I stopped at their shop near Springfield OH. His son Bobby was running the #21 Ford in ARCA at that time. He and Tim Steele were ARCAs top guns in the early 90s. I think ARCA was still running some dirt tracks back then, don't know if they still are. Ron |

Yes, they had convertible races. They were considerably slower than the closed cars. MIKE :) |

Re: Old Ford Pictures - social group I have more that I will post in the future. Most of the pictures I have picked up at local swap meets, yard sales and post card shows. Sorry, I don't have any history on any of the photo's.

I found this vintage photo of a 1934 Phaeton, just like mine, about a month ago. Check out the white-walls !
