Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Have a valve cover mounted oil filter on a 31 Slant.
Has a Motorcraft FL-14 oil filter. Will a NAPA 1515 fit? Unable to locate the Motorcraft is a very old number. Thanks |
Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Must really be an old number, I looked in a 1975 filter catalog and it's not listed.

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 I have the same setup as you Dave and I use NAPA Gold 1068

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Are you sure it is not a FL-1A? I am building an engine with that set up and it came with a Motorcraft FL-1A. That is a common filter you can get just about anywhere.

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Fram PH8A
|
Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Mine also used the Fram PH8A but I couldn't get it.
|
Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Don't use Fram as they are junk inside. All paper and hot glue.

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 1 Attachment(s)
Wix 51515

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Thanks NAPA 1515 same as WIX

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Wix is one of the Best and they make many for other companies.

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 They may be leading a leading sales manufacturer but are far from a leading quality producer. They are big because they are cheap and sold by every discount place in the world. I used them as a youngster because my family did but I stopped when the inside collapsed on a race motor many years back. Now Ionly use OEM and Wix. I have used Napa Gold in a pinch in engines I'm not that fussy about.

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 These are all interchangeable and will work on the after market side cover oil filters for the Model A:

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 OOPS F-1A
1515 was correct NAPA GOLD |
Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 On another auto site several guys with a lot more time than I have cut apart filters from all the manufacturers. You would be amazed at the difference in construction. I'm sure there are dozens maybe hundreds of threads knocking Fram filters. I suppose they do the job, but for a few extra bucks why not buy the best, WIX.

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 Is it possible it could be a Motorcraft FL144 that was used on Jeep, Willys, Case, Ford, Hudson, Massey? Thought a number 4 may have worn off.

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 They spend millions in advertising and sponsorship.
If you look up oil filters you will see what a Fram looks like inside. |
Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 I've used many, many Fram filters over the last 50 years or so and never had a problem w/any of them.
BTW, are Kralinator oil filters still made? If so, does anyone use them? |
Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14 I have also used fram for years with no problem, bottom line use what ever filter you want too it's your car Bob
