Found this on AACA site. Looks brand spanking new, and check out those tires! Never seen that before.

Digger thanks for finding this beauty to share with us.

4 Banger, I think?

I've got a '36 Phaeton. The dash, door line, windshield pillars, and wind wings of this and sibling vehicles represent poetry converted to hardware and scream out a narrow generation of designer squabbles that left the market with intricate subtle variations. To my delight.

Brand new and needs a quart of oil?

Looks like a roadster to me. The rear window is right behind the guy's head and the top looks like it angles down there too. As cool as those tires look I would hate to have to keep them clean!

Re: Check out this period foto 32 Phaeton

Let's submit this is a posed photo. Agree the rear window behind the driver's head is too close and improperly shaped for a Phaeton's passenger rear curtain if installed.

So why try to promote the car that comes out several months after the V-8's introduction?

Maybe this is someone trying to drum up tire business?

Helpful contributions?

It is a standard roadster; note top color and material and painted windshield frame and top irons.

Jeff,

The '32 roadster, phaeton, sport coupe, and convertible sedan all share the same basic rear window frame with different finishes inside and out depending on the application.

Yes thanks for the correction on the Model. Several really cool period Ford photos on that site, here is another of a 34 Five Window with Greyhound!

Very Tangled is correct, Union Oil Company staged the photo and it was used in an ad promoting their Motoreze oil. The same photo appeared in Ford Life magazine, May-June, 1974 slightly cropped and another photo taken from a different angle was on the cover.

Just look at that front tire on the 34, curb rash. My wife must be related to this woman.

Would curb feelers help?

Ford made vehicles which had unusual features such as special tires and often took photos of these before they left the Ford facility, or they never left the facility. You will find many photos with small features to the vehicle that did not make it into production. One that comes to mind is a interior photo of a hot water heater in a 34. I believe some of the photos were of special order vehicles for fleet orders.

I've seen tires like/similar in high end cars of that era.

5.50 x 17 WSW tires, but not the bent spoke wheels, were a Ford RPO (regular production option) at least back through the '32 model year.
