Re: 35 ford 2dr sedan Is the pitman arm 'oriented' correctly? Is it the right way around? It should go on considerably further than it is...but you know that!

Re: 35 ford 2dr sedan I'm not sure about the older cars but the newer vehicles I've worked on have tapered splined shafts and if the pitman arm is "upside down" then the tapers aren't oriented the correct way. I've also seen where they are machined with a couple splines removed to index the pitman arm correctly. Check to make sure your tapers are matching and check to see if there's an indexing slot.

Re: 35 ford 2dr sedan Turn the wheel lock to lock and count the turns. Turn half those number of turns back and the box is about centered. Have the wheels pointing straight forward and the correct "larger spline" location will be apparent.
