Throttle Linkage attached to Engine

First of all Hello!!! to the community. I am new here and am in the process of semi restoring a 31 Coupe.

With this Coupe I received some spare parts. One of the parts that I need to correct is the Throttle Linkage attached to the Engine. The one in the car was broken at the pedal end. There are no threads to attach a pedal. I did receive one as a spare which is broken at the drivers end and missing the linkage for the steering column control.

A few pictures to eliminate the 1000 word post;

I'm planning on removing the good throttle linkage from the broken bracket and placing it into the good bracket.

Question: Would the best method be to heat the end with the linkage ball and straighten it so that it will feed out of the bracket?

I just cut the head off of a bolt and welded it on.

Thanks Bob!! Hadn't thought of that even though I have a MIG. Length is not an issue as I have the other for comparison.

These linkages are quite plentiful. You should be able to get one of $15 or so. I have 5 or 6 myself. I think it would be much easier to use a different one than is not damaged.

Call Bert's Model A Center in Colorado. They should be able to set you up with a good one.

Good Luck,

Before you remove the accelerator assembly from the car, check to see if there are any shims between the flywheel housing and the engine block where the two accelerator assembly bolts pass through and connect to the engine. Sometimes there are horseshoe looking shims placed there to help align the flywheel housing to reduce clutch chattering. Often they are stuck in place by old grease and dirt, but they are easy to dislodge.

I would replace the old assembly with a good original as suggested.
