Another odd heater

4 Attachment(s)
My brother came down from Vermont for Thanksgiving, and brought this odd heater to show me. It goes between the engine and manifolds, and there are openings in the top of the exhaust ports to let the exhaust go up into the heat exchanger. It is all aluminum, and is made in two major halves, with a two piece aluminum cover bolted on.
Has anybody ever seen one like it, and if so, who made it?

It looks as if a few things would end up misaligned: the exhaust pipe and GAV rod for sure. The gas line and throttle linkage maybe not too bad.

It does seem odd that it would be made to throw off the choke rod alignment too far to be used. I wonder if there was a special manifold to go along with it?

I have trouble sealing the exhaust manifold let alone with this thing sandwiched in......

I have one of those I bought off EPAY a few years ago. Was just too weird to pass up! Mine doesn't look like it was ever used. Don't know if I will ever use it or not.

That would be a nice heater to install, so you wouldn't have to cut the firewall. Just make a hole in a repro toe board for the heater grate.

If that is a reproduction, are they still being made? If so, where can I get one?

2manycars, you have a PM.

That Gladiator also works well in the summer. You disconnet the manifold section and run straight air into the passanger compartment.

The jacket is around a continuous pipe section, so much less chance of exhaust leaks into the cockpit.
