Model A engine number question

I have a 31 model a coupe and the engine has a 8 digit number on it, looking online it looks like it should only have 7 digits.. It has a mark before and after the number and It starts with an A then 8 numbers, When looking up the Vin do I just drop the last number off?

Sorry I just went out and looked again and it is 7 digits I misread it earlier..
