Inside u joint cover

Quick question folks. Does the inside u joint cover only go on one way? Or can it be rotated any whic way?

The inside has a hole in it that I think should go right with the grease fitting on the outside piece, though it will fit either way. But perhaps someone with more knowledge than I will have another answer and differ in reasoning.

I always put the inside cover so the two holes are located at 9 and 3 o'clock.
