New guy on the block
 

Hi, I've been looking for a while and find this site to be fantastic. It has helped me time and time again. I have a 29 ccpu thats been with me since high school about 50 years. Man that's a long time to keep a project and not finish it. Anyway at this point I would like to have the body worked on and painted. I want the truck to be a driver and continue to be something fun. I'm wondering if anyone around Snohomish Wa. or that part of the state that does that. Anyway thanks for a great site. Ron

It would be best to see if you can contact a member of a club close to you to get first hand recommendations and anyh help you may need what working ion the truck.

The Gallopin' Gerties (MAFCA) are a great bunch of people and are based in Seattle. A little drive for you, but you should get to know these guys.

Welcome to the Ford Barn. I, too, am working on an A I have had for about 54 years. Fun thing while working on the body now is I am uncovering and remembering the body work mistakes I made back in the early 1960s as a teen. I am determined to finish it next before any other projects get in the way.

I can't help on specific body/paint shop recommendations in your area, but there are a fair number of guys here from Washington who may chime in. The more pre-paint fitting and massaging you do, the less cost and less need for an old car body and paint specialist.

Being retired now, I have enough time and am slowly doing a lot of the pre-paint prep work myself. I have a painter friend who is giving me guidance along the way. But I trust myself more than most body shops to get the body into shape for painting, with so much fitting needed on a Model A. My plan is to get everything fitted myself, get the car running in primer, let my painter friend go over it for most filler and sanding work, then take the car apart for final body and paint done in pieces. I will then reassemble it, wire it,and get the upholstery installed.

the Murry brothers in Monroe do excellent work. Also there could be someone in the Seattle Evergreen club, and definitely someone in the Gerties. He lives in Auburn. Chuck

Thanks for the welcome. I got some names of people in the area that can do body work and paint. Hopefully we can get started down that road soon.
