Wind Wing glass Hi all,
Could someone please advise the correct thickness of glass/perspex for wind wings? The instructions that came with my Vintique kit are not very specific. Thanks. |
Re: Wind Wing glass The clamps are adjustable and will take a range of thicknesses. I think the glass is usually about 1/4" thick. The thinner the better because glass is heavy and the clamps crap. Use every trick you can imagine to prevent your glass ending up in a million pieces on the road.

Re: Wind Wing glass When I need a good sealant/adhesive for glass, I like clear silicon caulk/sealant. I learned this working in an alarm business. Lasts many, many years in this application.

Re: Wind Wing glass Yes, I lost 2 glasses on the road side. For the rubber I substituted two sided sticky tape, fairly thick stuff, ensured I had the glass correctly in place and clamped. Then used a blade to cut off the excess from around the clamps and bingo.

Re: Wind Wing glass Thanks for your input. I decided on 6mm perspex which is fractionally under 1/4 inch and much lighter. Used silicone as the adhesive and all looks very secure.
