41pu fender to bed. Is welting used?

My 41 pickup has no welting between the fender and the bed. Should there be any?

Thanks in advance.

Mart.

Likely not. Trucks were usually less likely to receive what Ford called "anti squeak". Most restored trucks have it for appearance reasons.

I know .I have reversed the welting so the bead is not visible giving the seam a clean look. Just a thought .....

I have used hockey stick handle tape for anti squeak..

There was welting between the fenders and body on the 40 Tonner when I bought it. I think it came from the factory this way since the hardware holding the fenders on were virgin OEM bolts and nuts. See attached photos.

I have not seen fender welting as we know it used on these trucks but have seen gasket type material between the box and the fender.
