Trying to ID a FoMoCo camshaft
 

Hi
I tried a few sites and someone on the H.A.M.B. Suggested I ask here.
I’m rebuilding my ‘62 260 V8 and am hitting a dead end trying to ID the cam. Stamped on the cam snout is-F 22 B
After the front bearing journal is-FoMoCo UA
After 1st lobe is- 22 15
I can’t find any info that tells me what this cam is. It was suggested I could use my degree wheel and dial indicator to profile the lobes, but the block is at the machine shop. So anyone have an old FoMoCo cam list or idea what cam I have?

Is this cam out of your engine or a SBF cam you are trying to ID?

Correct
The cam was a good fit for the driving I do. Smooth idle,and decent power. I’d like to replace it with an identical one, or similar. Not being able to ID it with this info I suspect it’s no longer available, but maybe Melling or such would have a replacement grind

Don't see many 1962 Mercury Meteor's (US Mercury). Good luck with the engine rebuild !

My book shows that camshaft being for the 1962-1964 221-260 engines. Intake and exhaust advertised duration is 252°. Overlap is 36°. Ground on 108° lobe centers and installs at 3° advance or at 105° intake lobe centerline. The Ford part number was C2oE-B. Ted Eaton.

Back in the mid '70's, I had a '63 Ranchero with a 260,289 heads, aluminum high rise manifold and a 600cfm Holley with a c-4. I had a Sig Erson hi-flow 1 cam in it. it had a little lump to it, but it was streetable to me. I may have a different opinion now that I am not 25 years old any more. I do not remember the spec's on the cam, or if it is even made any more. you might ck it out and see if it is something you might be able to use if you can not find what you are looking for.

back in 72 i bored a 260 to 289 and it lasted.

If you have a clean used cam, it can be reground to nearly any spec you want.

You could use this cam & lifter set it has the same specs as the Ford Motorsports M-6250-A311 Camshaft last listed in 2006 after that only roller cams are shown,I have this one in my 302 and love it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SBF-289-302....c100005.m1851 The Edelbrock Performer cam has the same specs as well.

Thanks Jeff. I did look over the Edelbrock Performer cam, but the lift being higher I figured I would have to replace my press in rocker studs with screw in.
As of right now I kind of like the Melling SYB 9. Just a little more duration and overlap, but stock lift-

Well, in the GRAND SCHEME of things, if the heads are off/machine shop, now is the time to replace the studs. If just one pulls the slightest, there goes your valve-train geometry.

And as for EDEL, I would suggest looking at ISKY.

The above is only IMO of course.

Did you check into the Sig Erson cam I mentioned? Just curious.

You could give these guys a call and give them a full description of your car and your goals they could custom grind one for you as they have a large number of profiles you could use. Isky made a line called Mile A More cams made for street and gas mileage you can use those with stock valve gear they could copy that grind for you. https://www.deltacam.com/

Checking Erson and Isky websites it looks like the lift on those wouldn’t work with my
valvetrain. I COULD go with screw in studs, but they’ve been there for almost 60 years now and haven’t moved yet.
I have a car to “go fast” in, this one is just a survivor type cruiser. I’m only going to get so much performance out of a 260 anyway. So I’m looking for a stockish cam.
