Walnut woodgrain

Walnut wood grain dashboard and window mouldings; were these hand painted in the factory back in the day? Or how was this finish attained?

Specifically in regards to late 30's but not sure how early this finish was available...

Go to Grain-it Technology's website.
You will need a roller, medium brown printers' ink and a straight grain template to get close to the 38 deluxe factory finish.
Look up 1938 ford deluxe dashboard on YouTube also.

Thank you swoopNZ, who would have thought that's how it's done, not I. Great website with lots of videos.

There is another technique called hydrographic film.
There are all sorts of wood grain patterns.
It’s not like the original techniques of years ago but done right it’s amazing.
Check it out and see if you like it.
