Motor Rebuilding Where is a good place to have a motor rebuilt? How much does it cost?

Re: Motor Rebuilding The builder that Dick has recommended has prices that are in line with any that I have seen so far. Having just completed a rebuild on my own engine, he is very reasonable I did everything that I could myself except for the machneing and babbet pours. I am a fan of babbet over the inserts in a Model A . The closer to original the better as far as I am concerned. Doing most of the rebuild myself, it still cost me over 2,000 dollars. The other problem that you have to consider is shipping if the rebuilder is any distance away. I shipped a 1930 Willies 6 from New York to Fla. and it was over 500 dollars. I don't remember exactly how much. Good luck on your project., Jack

Re: Motor Rebuilding Definetely Antique Engine Rebuilding. Pretty much everybody up here gets their engines rebuilt there because it is pretty close. But many others ship engines to their shop for rebuilds because they are that good and know what they are doing.

Re: Motor Rebuilding Seeing as you live in SD, give Bert's in Colo a call. I installed one of their motors last year and has run great, they do them one at a time, I was on their list for about 4 months-but worth it.

Re: Motor Rebuilding I couldn’t be happier with my engine I had rebuilt at Antique Engine Rebuilding. His shipping costs are very reasonable also.

Re: Motor Rebuilding I would like to thank everyone for your reply it is very helpful.

Re: Motor Rebuilding If you want babbitt bearings, you won't get them at AER.

Re: Motor Rebuilding Bert's in Denver is probably the closest. I can't recommend Schwalms. I had one engine done there and that's enough said.

Re: Motor Rebuilding I have 26,000 miles on an AER touring engine. Rich has instructions for building a shipping stand.

Re: Motor Rebuilding I also have to give an A+ to Antique Engine Rebuilding. Rich was awesome to deal with. His shipping prices were way better than I had thought the would ever be. I had planned on personally delivering my engine but I couldn't do it for the cost of shipping. I sent my engine in Oct of 18 and was driving again in 6 weeks. It runs great in the 1k mi I have on it so far
