Turning flathead crank...socket size Hi Barners,
Going out to buy a socket for my 1/2" drive ratchet to turn the crank on my resting flathead with some oil in each cylinder. What size? My guess is 1 1/2". Thanks, Bruce/CT |
Re: Turning flathead crank...socket size Early short crank '32-38 is about 1 3/8, long crank '39-48 1 1/8 deep and thin socket, '49 up 7/8.

I looked thru 8 pages of Search Threads with no luck. Any thoughts on the Title of the post Thanks, Bruce/CT |
Re: Turning flathead crank...socket size Bruce, I bought a cheap 3/4" drive set of sockets, ratchet and extensions from either Harbor Freight or maybe a tool supplier a flea market. It has large sockets that will cover all years of Flathead front pulley nuts mentioned, plus this set comes in handily for other things all the time. I think it was ~ $30.00.
